Fund a Bench:  American Lake Veterans Golf Course

American Lake Veterans Golf Course

Location:  9600 Veterans Drive, Lakewood

Other exciting news is that the class has been able to donate two Honorarium Benches honoring all those who served in Vietnam and other wars or conflicts.  Many of our classmates served our country.  The benches were donated to the American Lake Veterans Golf Course and Clover Park High School.  Your committee believes you will agree that it is a privilege to say "thank you" to our veterans.

The bench for the golf course will be placed on the putting green, and the school's bench will be installed in the high school lobby.  Attractive plaques designed and donated by John Dooley's company, NW Etch, will be attached to each bench expressing our thanks.

The benches cost about $800 a piece. Donations have paid for them with some money to spare.  The extra funds have been donated to the Veterans' Golf Course for other needs.  If you would like to add to those funds, please send your donations by check.  Make it out to "Janice Stegeman", our Reunion Committee Treasurer.

Mail it to:  Judy Osborne Longstreth
                  13301 SE 97th Place, # C203
                   Newcastle, WA  98059

Please designate on the check that it is for the Veterans' Bench.  Any donation will be appreciated.

The inscription will likely read:

Donated by the Clover Park High School Class of 1960
                                      Thank you for your service.

There is a nationally known golf program at the Veterans' Hospital.  The bench will be used by veterans, many of whom, in spite of lifetime injuries, enjoy the game of golf with adaptive equipment.  Jack Nicklaus is designing the golf course's next 9 holes, without his usual fee.  For more information, go to :  veterangolf.org/americanlakevgc.html
